Known for its distinct and uplifting smell, eucalyptus is used in most spas for aromatherapy and in many household products to help give that welcoming scent. But why are we so attracted to eucalyptuses aroma? It could possibly be from the unique benefits that the oil has on the human body.
What is Eucalyptus?
Eucalyptus is an oil made from a Myrtaceace tree species found in Australia, Tasmania and island adjacent. There are more than five hundred species of eucalyptus, however, only two types are known to be used as essential oils for medical properties.

Mental Clarity: Eucalyptus clears the pathway for oxygen to reach the lungs and brain, thus relieving "brain fog" by increasing brain activity
Supports Stress Relief: Has soothing and purifying properties via modulating of the central neurotransmitter system; the oils helps to balance chemicals in the brain
Fights infections: Its main component, eucalyptol, has antimicrobial effects against strains of bacteria, viruses and fungi, which help fight viruses
Helps Earaches: Eucalyptus oil works as an expectorant which helps to unclog the respiratory tract, as well as, having antimicrobial properties that help fight infections that may cause fluid to build in the ear canal, the oil can be used to improve ear infection and earaches

Ultimately, the oil opens the respiratory system allowing for a greater flow of oxygen to the body
